I’ve been having problems with my 96 xj for the past 3 weeks or so and have replaced many things which would get it up and running for a day or so and then another thing would go out. frustrating, but it’s how life goes i suppose. I have a previous thread about it cranking with no start for over a week, i replaced the crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, and gave it a full tune up and it would run but die randomly. It went to a shop and turns out i had a short in my NSS (was last thing on my radar because i had just cleaned it a few weeks before due to a weird starting issue, fixed it for a while) and there was some weird wiring problems that got fixed.
Once i got it back everything was fine and it drove like new, but then stalled once on my way home. the first time it stalled i got stuck in the middle of the street because it would crank and not start and was able to get it to the side of the road and looked under the hood and the connector to the TPS slid out a bit and wasn’t properly connected, pushed it back in and it started right up and drove fine the whole rest of the day.
on my way to work the next day it stalled at a stop right when i got there (about a 5 mile drive). I got it to start up again, and could get to the parking lot. After work i went to start it, it died, and started it again, and noticed that i had to lightly keep my foot on the gas when idling to keep the rpms up at 1000 because if it would drop below that it would want to sputter and stall. (i know, that can’t be good for the car at all, but i had to get home). It doesn’t always stall, it’s very very intermittent. Ckps and camshaft shouldn’t be the problem, considering they’re both new and gave good readings.
If anyone has any suggestions on what to look at i’d appreciate it. It’s currently at a shop because i took it directly there since certain parts are under warranty with them, but it’s not looking like it’s any of the warrantied parts. So if it’s something that i could do myself i’d love to get it back and save some money, i’m a broke college kid 😬 thanks so much for any and all suggestions!

if it stalls at Idle, then the IAC in the throttle body is the main item controlling idle.

afaic, it cannot be tested.

It can be removed and cleaned, or replaced
