I did read what the OP had to say and understand where he was going at with it. Apparently it's too expensive to buy a new latch, so I was simply making the suggestion that if you're going to modify your latch...might as well modify it all, to something a bit better!

If your local JY doesn't have the quantity or best interior quality of XJ's to find a latch to replace, then you have more of an option with the WJ's.

I should mention the 89 latch is a door hinge ha ha ha and that still came off.

OH CRAP!!!! I was unaware of this drastic flaw. Anyone wany to buy an XJ? The latch still works so I guess I need to unload it while I still can.

I've got a 2000 xj and the latch is broken. never thought about velcro,learn something new on this forum everyday.

those are cool but for $300 its worth more then anything i would need to protect. Oh well

Those things are supposed to have latches there? Man, that would be awesome!

Watch the Mopar latch part number, ending in AA, get superceded by velcro, part number ending in AC....
