97 Cherokee Sport still no spark after changing ignition coil
So, I was driving and my Jeep turned off on me.
There was no check engine light or codes at the time it turned off while driving.
Previously, the car would long crank before starting so when it stopped I assumed it was a fuel issue.
1st. I replaced the fuel pump (did not resolve the issue)
2nd. I replaced the crankshaft sensor (did not resolve the issue)
3rd. I sprayed throttle body choke into the throttle while turning the car over (still did not start)
4th. I checked for spark from the ignition coil with an inline spark plug tester (did not resolve issue)
5th. Discovered ignition coil was cracked so I replaced it (did not resolve the issue)
6th. Checked the ignition coil connector and it has 12v coming from the hot and about 3v coming from the signal (on a voltmeter) when cranking.
Not sure what else to check...Please help..Thanks!

I cant see you mention if you had good spark at the plugs ?
Fuel pressure should be verified with gauge
a compression test should be performed if you have verified fuel & spark

I am also in agreeance with the above.
The Auto Parts Stores will loan the required tools needed in order to properly test for fuel pressure. You could easily verify fuel pressure with one of their loaner fuel pump diagnostics kits.
You can check for proper compression with one of their block tester kits. The testing procedure used for verifying proper compression at all of the cylinders is actually also a very easy thing to do.
These diagnostics kits should come with simple step by step directions to follow too.
For the engine to run it needs; fuel, air, spark, compression, and timing.. all being proper.
Also, if the exhaust is clogged up badly? This could cause the same thing to happen like it is with your Jeep not being able to start like that too.
(edited to add):
Wait.. No Spark??

I think it said still no spark in the title.

I too misread the title, so I took a moment to check the FSM Electrical Chapter, No start diagnosis, Ignition coil
It shows a test to perform, and the summary of that is that either the wiring or PCM is failed
If the coil has 12V, that is indicative the ASD is functioning, but replacing it is still worth trying
also, remove cap and check dizzy is rotating with engine
go to member cruiser54 website, download 97 FSM, it shows the correct wire from ignition to PCM earth to check, and the procedure
(I took mine from 95 FSM, which is easier to find things in, but has obd1, same principle will apply though)
