I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0 and I've been having this reoccurring issue with it stalling at stoplights when taking off, also I've noticed that my temp gauge has been dropping down causing the RPM to jump up around 1,000 from where it idles around 500 RPM.

I have replaced plugs & wires, battery, alternator, and starter. (if this helps with any answers.)

 

Check vacuum lines, including any and all rubber connections, and clean the engine grounds. Throttle body and IAC may need a good cleaning.
