If you mean liter (or Imperial gallon), yes they are. Other than that a gallon is a gallon.

Nope, a US gallon is 3.78 litres, a UK gallon is 4.54 litres.

He told me it was the first or top O2 sensor not sure. The XJ was running fine the next day for a few hundred miles and then the problem came back for awhile then went away(and eventually came back), but he was able to make it all the way to his destination.

Check the fuel pressure, if regulator is bad it will flood the eng with fuel

Not really going to help 4mpg bu once he replaces the o2 sensor he should think about running a round of seafoam
