'98 cherokee sport, can anyone identify this part?
Hey guys. Recently I was driving along on the freeway, and applied a bit of pressure to my brake. It would appear that there was a preexisting problem with the axle, and this connector/support bar on the front right wheel snapped, sending me out of control. I managed to get the vehicle stable and limped home going 10mph with my hazards on.
Can anyone tell me what this is, and if possible, identify how I might get this fixed? Hopefully it's possible without very expensive repairs. Thoughts greatly appreciated.

that my friend would be a "fail". in all seriousness it is a lower control arm bracket. do you have a welder or a welding shop near you? if so thats pretty much all it should take... also your sway bar endlink is not tight. that possibly could have been contributing to this problem

ether your Drag Link or Tie Rod,, it also looks like your sway bar end links are loose but even if that snapped im sure you can still drive it, I know lots of people who drove without em

It can be driven a little, but it would be better to get if fixed. Just have a good welder weld some brackets back on and hook it up. You can drive with only one upper link, but better have two lower links.

can it be driven without the lower control arm? when it happened, I lost control of the vehicle and almost crashed while braking. I drove it home very carefully, but it was making lots of noises and drove oddly, didn't seem safe and seemed like if I braked hard I'd lose it. I'm wondering now if it should be alright to drive it ten or twenty miles to get it welded. Also, will I need to purchase a new control arm? If I can use the one I've already got, even though it looks pretty bad where it used to connect, that'd help my wallet some, but I don't want to compromise the health of the vehicle.
thanks for the help guys. cherokees > *

The stock lower arms are pretty cheap, any good auto parts store can get them.If I where you I would have it towed to the ship to have it fixed.Do any of your freinds have AAA?

The control arm doesnt look that bad. You can probly reuse the control arm. It looks like you broke you lower control arm mount. Ive seen people drive with an upper control mount ripped off but I wouldnt drive it like it is. Id definantly get it towed to a shop.
