98 couple issues related or not?
#1
I have a 98 with aw4 180k. So I bought it about 2 months ago for 700 bucks its in pretty good condition. Aside from a dw at 55-60 which I am ordering ujoints and tie rod ends soon. If that doesnt do it I am gonna try a new track bar. If anyone has better suggestions let me hear them. Now my other issue is my driver side tail light and parking light do not work the blinkers and brake light do. Also my reverse lights do not work, and my overdrive will kick in for 10-15 sec the first time I drive it after tinkering with nss then won't even consider o/d again. I have cleaned and adjusted the nss multiple times. I have put in a new brake switch I swapped the tps out with one off a 99 so i don't think that is it. I adjusted the trans kickdown cable i think its called and o/d will kick in for 10-15 sec again then won't try again. What else can i do besides a new 300 dollar nss? Does anyone have any ideas about where to start on the no tail/parking light issue? I read something about somone connecting them together both there own wire is this the only option? And there's no may the nss could effect the tail/parking light right?Thank you everyone for the help!

For the taillights try replacing with OEM equivalent bulbs. I had a running light problem but my brake light worked and a blinker that didn't work but I had running lights on that bulb. Both bulbs looked good. Replaced them with new ones and everything worked again.

You are correct, NSS can affect the back-up lights functioning. There are a ton of write-ups on taking it out, cleaning, re-greasing, and reinstalling. I just did it on mine, took about an hour and the only tools I needed were a socket, a screwdriver, some brake cleaner, and white lithium grease. As far as the tail lights go, switch the tail light bulb into the blinker socket and see if it flashes. If it does it's the wiring and not the bulb. If that's the case check your fuses, they're on the passenger side under a cover in the kick panel.
Edit: Here's a decent write-up. No need to waste 300 bucks on a new NSS, they never really break they just get dirty.

U-Joints shouldn't really affect DW. I'd suggest tie rod ends or track bar first. Check your TREs for play - if you don't find any, try track bar before TREs.
If you are going to do U-Joints, order Spicers!
