Default ‘98 running like garbage, sucking fuel

Here’s the skinny, CEL was on, codes p0138, p0135, p0132. Gas mileage became noticeably worse <10mpg along with CEL. Every now and then, after a longer drive would idle like it had a heavy cam in P and N. It was also due for a tuneup.

ordered new o2 sensors per CEL. Did tune up last Friday. New champion copper plugs gaps verified at .35”. New wires. New rotor and cap. Sensors hadn’t come yet. Was running much smother, but still experiencing bad mpg due to sensors.

Thursday, installed new o2 sensors. Reset ecm. Started with no CEL. Air/fuel trimmed down properly once it warmed up. Took it for a test drive. Falls on its face under acceleration around 2k. Idles and runs worse driving than it did prior to tune up and new sensors. Got home from work yesterday and CEL came on, p0132, with *possible p0135, p0138, and p0141.

I don’t know how to move forward in solving this from here. Thank you!!

What O2 sensor brands did you buy? You should next check the wiring. Make sure there are no shorts or opens.

the sensors are ngk. I visually inspected the wiring and seems to be okay. Don’t know specs to check the wiring other than visually.

I don’t know how to tell that other than visually. I don’t believe so. Cat looked okay through bung when I replaced downstream. Also, exhaust is cut off after cat care of PO.

Check the O2 heater fuse while you're at it.

If you unplug the o2 sensors the computer doesn't use them to schedule fuel, it uses a preset standard schedule. Its not great for emissions but the jeep runs well on it. I had a bad sensor once and it would buck like hell and stink of fuel...thought i had a bad or cracked manifold. Unplugged them and it smoothed right out. Then i knew it was only a bad sensor
