If it did then don't waste your time with trying to press in on the cluster just yank the cluster out and clean the connections and use some dielectric grease and then reattach everything.

Unless you use a brick wall for a BFH, or were beating on the headers or something I don't see how that would make a difference.

As mentioned, the two problems are more than likely unrelated. Coincidence has a funny way of screwin with your mind...

If this continues to happen visit your local Jeep dealer..

My personal Jeep Parts Salesman (Dad) said there is an updated plug for the back of the cluster to fix the problem.

Same thing happened to me just this morning.

I had the 02 sensors replaced last week, driving to work today I lost my gauges. Odometer wasn't going up either. Drives just fine, radio and windows work, and the LCD is still on for the odometer.

What do I clean it with?

did you check the fuses under the hood. it happened to me because my light in the hood fell off wheeling and blew a fuse. it was a 10 amp blue colored one.

I was driving down the road in my 1998 Cherokee and my dome light fell off and was dangling by its wires. When this happened the dome lights, radio and instrument cluster stopped working. I checked all the fuses for the radio and cluster and they were all fine. I then checked some of the fuses in the fuse box under the hood and found a random 15 amp one that was blown. Changed it and it fixed everything. I have no idea what that fuse was for, but it worked.

I'm having this exact problem right now. How in depth is removing the cluster to clean the connections?

I was attempting to splice the hot wire that goes to my OHC, after cutting the wire the radio, cluster, hood light and others stopped working. The last fuse I checked was the 15amp under the hood. I replaced it and it all works fine now.

I also have an issue with the cluster going out while driving randomly. Turning on one of the blinkers brings it back. I will have to clean the contacts on it in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the posts and good advice.

I had mine do that a short time ago, mine also displayed "No Bus" where the trim meter/odometer is. Don't know if yours is doing that too. I pulled my gauge cluster out, applied di-electric grease to the connectors, put it back in, and have had no issues since then. Its a good, inexpensive place to start!
