98 xj aw4 tranny problems
98 xj 4.0 with 209k, I’m not sure how the tranny fluid has been changed because I just got it!!! It doesn’t wanna shift from 1st to 2nd when it’s cold but if you let it warm up it’s seems to shift fine all through the gears!! The fluid is full looks good and doesn’t smell burnt, It’s got a check engine light for a tcc solenoid but when i took it to a tranny shop and had it checked out all the solenoids checked out good!! Idk what’s going on!! Please help!!!!!

Well for starters never hurts to swap out all the fluids when you first get a Jeep.
Any vehicle for that matter IMO.
My '00 when it is really cold out, I start it, and start driving immediately it will shift funny from 1st to 2nd.
Feels like it stays in 1st a little longer then it should.
But that is literally till I get to the stop light at the corner.
Within 2 minutes, if that, it is fine.
So how long till yours starts shifting fine?
So the tranny shop gave it a clean bill of health.
Was the CEL cleared?
Has it come back yet if so?
Also have you have tried this?

If you're still having issues once you've eliminated the fluid variable, check out this thread for details on how to check your solenoids and wiring.

I’ve changed all the fluids except the tranny was kinda of afraid to!! The fluid looks good and bright and doesn’t smell burnt. The check engine light did come back on showing a low voltage code. It is slow to shift when cold usually about 2 to 3 mins pushing about 2500 rpms then finally shifts into seconds. Where do I find the ohms resistance for tcm plug and I’ll check that. I did replace the tps because it had starting problem would always start on the 3 try and I read it might be that but it didn’t fix it, ended up being the fuel pump and fixed that with new one. I thought about replacing the solenoids packs myself but I dkk ok my wanna screw anything up!!!!
