98 XJ Fender Dent (Photos)

Replace, color match and get the pin stripes added. Cost of a new fender will save you the money in labor the body guy will have to do. The crease isn't in line with the hood anymore, will take hours getting it straight and lined up perfectly. New factory fender is ready to go.

Hello all!
I got my first car (98 xj) last August and I have been souping it up interior and exterior and am about to have a lift installed. But, I recently helped a friend get his ****box ZJ unstuck from the most ungodly place at 1AM and in doing so I backed up into a branch and it dragged along and dented my front fender a good bit (pictures included). Needless to say being new to jeeping and driving in general this has me pretty upset as my XJ was in near perfect condition before this. I am aware this is my own fault and for the love of god don’t respond with the typical “just leave it like that it looks better it gives it character I love my battle scars yee haw 🤠” I am willing to do whatever necessary to get this dent out. I understand it will never be “perfect” again but I’d like to get it much less worse and close to unnoticeable if possible because it really screws with the cars lines as I see it. Thank you for any and all help it is much appreciated!

I replaced a fender on a gmc jimmy for $65.It was bright red as opposed to silver/gray. Went to napa (I think) and gave them the vin number . They whipped up a spray can of the correct color. The paint on the car was 16yrs old but was a perfect match. Aboutgt $50 for the paint(which put 4 coats on the fender) and the clearcoat and sandpaper..
I'd go rockauto and the auto parts place that can mix it that well. Only good if original paintjob.

The guys are right. Better just to replace it. Sure it could be taken off and carefully hammered out, but you're not an experience body guy. By the time you were to go through all that, do the bondo work, prime and paint, you're way better off buying new. And if you can, find a replacement Jeep fender (better than aftermarket).
Let us know how it goes..
