I'm familiar with these little used car dealers. I have one near me that the wife wanted to buy a car from. They had this nose picker mechanic working for them that did all the "fixes" to the cars that the buyers wanted done. He looked like a homeless gypsy.

Needless to say, no car was bought from these animals.

I went thru the ground tests last night and all seemed up to spec but I took them apart and cleaned them very well and re secured them. also sprayed them with a corrosion inhibitor for future protection. I took the XJ 100 miles up to milwaukee this morning to see the oldest at college today and I believe the wiper motor was the problem I got 1/2 of the way back home and the wipers quit working completely( in the rain and wet snow). I carry a pretty good emergency tool kit so I stopped at a Pep-Boys and picked up a rebuilt and swapped it out and all seems well. We will see in a few days if it is truly fixed. Pretty wierd that it could pull the voltage low enough to turn off the radio.

One week later and still working well. I guess the wiper motor was the issue all the time. Thanks for the help and great info.
