Default 99 Cherokee electrical mystery

I’ve had my computer replaced about 3-4 times now over the past year and a half. Same thing every time, replacement good for about 6-8 months. The reoccurring problem is the guages will suddenly jump around, go dead and cause engine to misfire like crazy and sometimes stall. I’ve brought to shop for diagnostics for them to find nothing and send me out the door with a new computer. I would hate to sell as I’ve had it for some time now. Anyone with a similar problem or has been down this road? Codes show. Are both tcm codes 1694 and p1698.. any feedback is great

Have you cleaned the engine grounds? That alone can cause all sorts of mischief. Sometimes randomly.

All grounds on block and around engine bay that I know of have been removed and cleaned, I doubt it is just a bad ground as the problem will come and go randomly, this all started after a bad alternator was installed and likely surged out my computer on startup as the connectors on the back of the alternator where burnt off, I’m thinking it may have some correlation?

Found the o2 sensor wires draped over my driveshaft while double checking grounds as I do have an o2 code. Could this possibly be grounding out and causing my computer problems? I will splice them back or get a new sensor anyway. Any feedback is great thanks

That would definitely do it.

Did fixing your O2 sensor wires fix your problems?
