99' Cherokee - shifter bezel assembly
Hello!
Ok, I have a problem. I was replacing the light bulb underneath the shifter bezel, but the white plastic assembly was so old and brittle that it just shattered in multiple places. Doh!
Does anyone know where I can get a new replacement? Or is there an aftermarket "upgrade" product that someone might recommend? I'm not attached to having an OEM replacement, so I'd consider any and all options. It's for a '99 Cherokee Sport, Automatic tranny.
Also, the t-**** of course needs to come off to replace it - but how?? There's no screw that I can see. Does it just pop off if I pull really hard? Upon removing, is there any special care I should be taking to preserve the functionality of the button? Appreciate any advice on disassembly and reassembly.
Thanks!

not sure about an aftermarket option, but easiest if from a junkyard, there should be plenty there.
as for the shifter handle, yeah, just pull up really hard. you might want to put on a helmet first tho.
i usually shift it into neutral or so and quickly yet firmly give it a hard yank.

Definitely agree on the helmet. Did that 2 days ago to deal with the gap that the stick slides backwards and forwards in because the thin piece of plastic their broke and I dropped some change down there anyways. Makes for an interesting story, hitting myself in the nose with a shift ****. #nosejobsoon

Thanks all!
I found a bezel in great condition. It was from some "Cherokee people" over in southeast Michigan. Here's the source, in case anyone ever needs some parts:

They were great to deal with! I'm in SoCal where the dry heat climate makes plastic brittle after so many years, so that's why mine shattered easily. The cache they have in Michigan stays in much better shape because of the lack of the intense dry heat in that region.
The installation took 5 minutes too. The t-**** pops straight off with no worries, just a little elbow grease and caution. No helmet, no broken nose, no missing teeth.
