CPS? I did. The above screwing around sophisticated experimentation was done on a new Mopar CPS.

BTW, turned out my old one was a Mopar, too, and it's still good.

Unless you mean buy a Hantek 1008C. Yeah, it's a fun toy.

Course, now I just dropped 60 bucks for the AC/DC Current Clamp. Another 12 for an attenuator.

I wonder if there's an Ocscilloscope Anonymous group...

No I mean I might buy a Hantek. I have an old desktop pc that I'm about to do a clean install of windows 7 on, think that can go in the garage.
Sound like it would work with that?

For XJs looks like just the CPS (aka "engine speed sensor").

I'm using software version 1.0.3.0 on Windows 10 and no trouble with the installation.

There have been a few complaints where users could not get it to work on various systems. Whether that was a compatibility issue or they don't know how drivers work, I couldn't say.

I think that will work then. With the Windows 7 you of course get updates to 10.

And with the AC/DC Current Clamp you can check spark without having to hang onto a coil and stand in a puddle!

Well yeah but I think you can check spark by just placing the probe close to the plug / coil wire. Saw a guy do that. I think they call it "loose coupling".
The big starter current probe is pricey but you can watch the cranking current and determine the compression of each cyl. More current, better compression .

OK technically this is checking coil drivers, but that wouldn't have sounded as funny...

Little more difficult for us with coil rails tho.

Although if I just grab a coil with this thing I can also get a reading.
