Default 99 up intake and header

buddy works at LKQ and he gets me a pretty good hookup on aftermarkt jeep parts that come through... he found me a manifold/header with the spring style on it in stainless and a 99 and up intake complete with throttle body and everything for $60... My question is can i use the newer throttle body? i have a 96 motor and not sure if my throttle body will bolt right on or is it possible to use the new one... is the new one better? if the sensors were different is it possible to just splice the old wires with the new sensor plugs? thanks for the info guys!

LKQ the auto parts recycler?

I guess since he is your buddy you won't have any problems with him, but I work with guys who don't like working with them. But I guess that is with any job/business.

I don't have any experience with this swap but I don't think the throttle bodies bolt up any differently. You old sensors may work if not splicing should be too much of a problem as long as you have the same # of wires and such.

Sorry not a real good answer, but at least I replied to one of your post.....

I did this swap with my '94 4.0L. What i did was bore out the '94 TB and used it. You can use the 99+ TB but the MAP sensor, and IAC valve have different connectors on them and the MAP is mounted right to the TB instead of on the firewall. You can use the 99+ TB, you would just have to change the plug's for the sensors to fit your plugs. It's a good swap. I read in the most recent issue of JP that this swap didn't gain much, but I did my swap and added a CAI, free flow exhaust, and bored TB to 63mm, and I thought it made a huge difference in the torque department. You should also get a 99+ power steering bracket as your '96 won't mate up with the intake. Here is a pic of my 99+ intake in my '94,

Good luck,
J

Yeah LKQ is like a glorified JY basically... i think even autozone and such uses them... i believe they are nation wide also... If your a business working with them they may want top dollar i dunno... but i just deal with my buddy so no matter anyway... any reply is a good reply!

my other post was about how my throttle body is square? so i cant do much with a aftermarket intake (home brew anyway). I see yours is round? what the crap... i may try and use the new one if its round so i can make my own intake...

Yes, the missing bolt is actually a broken bolt! Careful when removing them, and installing them. As you can see.

The fuel rail I had to use off my '94. This is what I use and from what.

Intake 99+
fuel rail 94
TB 94
injectors 99+ (had to trim connector to get them to fit)
FPR 94
all sensors 94.

Seriously? I just got a 2000 manifold intake for my 96 XJ & was told that it was "all I needed". But you're saying I need a 99+ power steer bracket, as well? If true, that's good to know now. I'm waiting to get a 63mm TB & Neon fuel injectors before I mod up, so I guess I have time to pick up a PS bracket.

lol... yeah one thing ive learned is to ALWAYS replace bolts that go into he block once you get them out... ive broke off a motor mount bolt in the block and a water pump bolt in a 350 because of this... cost way more then acouple bolts... lol
