Curious also if the code reader sees the ECU

Yea ^, The ballast resistor was (not necessary) for the fuel pump till 94? 96? Anyway stupid question, is it cranking OK? These things need to turn "briskly" for the puter' to get what's going on. The days when one little crank opens the points and bang you are off, are long gone! Is there a resistance check for the cam sensor?

It may be the Automatic Shut Down (ASD) relay acting up. It controls the ignition and fuel injectors. The fuel pump is on a different circuit.
There are two fuses for the ASD: Fuse 11 (20A) in the Junction Block and fuse 19 (25A) in the PDC.
Check these fuses and if okay, swap the ASD relay with the Radiator Electric Fan relay and see if it works.

We checked the asd relay and did the swap but still nothing. With the multimeter I have I tested the ignition coil when cranking and is not getting anything, so the book points toward the crank shaft sensor or the cam shaft sensor

Well I found it the hard way not to ever buy electrical parts from AutoZone, after a week of trying to get the Jeep to start I took it to a mechanic, the ignition coil from AutoZone was a piece of crap and he put in A mopar coil and it fired right up. Lesson learned!
