Default ‘99 XJ power loss lurching and backfiring

Decided to break this out form the no heat issue. The XJ now has a full tank of fuel through it so I don’t think I’m dealing with crud or a bad fuel pump. The O2 sensor code po132 “signal tracking in connector causing a short between signal and heater power circuits”. I’m goin to replace 02 sensor but I don’t think that is totally responsible. Some new observations from the last “jeep seizure”.
1) all gauges go dead & air bag light goes on.....check engine light is already on from O2 sensor this happens just before the bucking starts.
2) when in seizure mode the odometer no longer records mileage (I’m thinking PCM issue?)
3) when I stop the jeep, turn it off and wait a few minutes I can restart and all the gauges are back and no more bucking power loss or backfiring (not really a bang...more like a wet fart noise).
obviously the O2 sensor gets replaced, but am I jumping the gun on replacing the PCM or is there something I should do/ replace first?
appreciate any thoughts or suggestions

I have a good look at the wiring to the O2 sensors and make sure it's not melted against the exhaust manifold or piping. A short to ground or power (as hinted by the trouble code you posted) can cause problems such as stalling, and no dash updates. A wiring issue is much more likely than a bad PCM. A bad crankshaft position sensor is often temperature dependent and will work fine until it gets hot. A bad CPS sensor often doesn't throw check engine codes. Same thing, check the wiring to the sensor for heat damage.
