Default 99 XJ won't start

99 XJ 4.0 4x4

When I tried to start my Jeep it made a grinding noise and the battery died. Usually it had trouble getting it to idle when I start it. Today it didn't have any trouble starting until this happened. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Okay, so charge the battery and provide some more information? Is the starter turning the engine over, clicking, etc...

what is your tune-up situation? how long has it been since a full tune-up? fully charged battery? battery cables corroded? that 4.0l should start right up

Brand new battery replaced 2 weeks ago, no corrosion, 218k miles not sure if there's been a tune up done to it. When it "died" it won't even think about trying to start. It sounded like the grinding came from the starter but then I was told it could be the flywheel.

pull the starter off and have it tested at an auto parts store and pull the inspection cover and check for loose bolts/missing teeth on the flywheel

I pulled the starter and had it tested it's good. No sign the flywheel is missing teeth. Any ideas? Maybe a connection somewhere? How would I go about checking that? Thanks

Are there any common electrical issues with this Jeep, that will cause it to not start? I've been trying to find something online, but it will only pull up hand Cherokees.

Could it be crank sensor? I'm really at a loss here
