99xj Intermittent stalls
Hello again guys,
I hope someone can help me here again as you gurus have done in the past for me and my xj!
This has happened 3 times this far. Started her up this morning drove down the street took off from the stop sign and she died, stalled , she cranked over but nothing, when I floored the gas pedal while cranking she was trying to start , after3 attempts with the pedal floored she finally fired up and drove fine ,
Another time I started her up at work as soon as she caught she died and I got her started by flooring the gas pedal while cranking her over and she eventually started and ran fine after words . It's very puzzling to me , I recently replaced the fuel pump and she has been running top notch until this past couple weeks .
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it has been in the last with past dilemmas !
Thanks
Stev

1. What brand fuel pump did you install? Hope it wasn't an Airtex.
2. Having to tip in the throttle to start is sometimes caused by a faulty throttle position sensor.
3. Have you ever seen a check engine light? If so, you must retrieve the stored codes for clues and guidance on troubleshooting this problem.
4. Probably not related, but be sure all of your tuneup hardware is fresh. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor.
Good luck!
