Default AAL's on brand new leaf packs

I've read plenty about aal's sagging pretty quick when added to existing leaf packs. I completely understand that. Saggy leafs, add aal's, aal's sag to match but, what about when added to brand new oem leaf packs?

I just put brand new oem leafs on due to how bad the old ones were. It seem's to me that would be the ideal time to use an aal.

Only going for 2". Thanks

yes the aal will work and last longer on new leaves but if two inches is all you want, then consider using shackles

use the AAL's.

shackles will change your pinion angle too much.

Use a long AAL the length of the main leaf. They ride better and will help prevent the pack from eventually bending into an S.

If all you want is 2 inches use shackles, then you don't have to worry about the AAL sagging and you'll get more flex and a better ride.

It would be the best time to use an aal. Go with the full length and please let us know your results.

Shackles, cheapest, easiest, more flex, best.

I put rough country 3in with aal's on new rear leafs and got a 4.5 lift in rear and 3 up ft. Have to raise ft with spacers to even out. And have a vibration from rear driveshaft. Only wanted to go with 3in so didnt have these problems. Live and learn i guess. But guess ill have to deal with 4.5 all the way around.

Side note for you...

My ideal cherokee leaf pack for a 3" lift in the rear is a 3" AAL plus a comanche overload leaf.

Net lift is actually around 3.75" lift, which will settle down a bit over time.

I like a bit of rake In my cherokees because I carry A LOT of tools. That setup is about perfect for weight...be it towing a trailer or loading the jeep up. It doesn't sag too much, and still flexes really nice.

I was actually considering an overload spring as well on the off chance I wanna pull a trailer.

As far as more flex from shackles, I'm not too worried about being able to flex this one out. That will come later on my toy. This one is my DD and kayak transport. I'm goin more for mud and sand ability with it.
