Default ABS?

I have a 99 cherokee 4.0 with a ford 8.8 in the rear. When I hit my brakes I get a slow puslate from the brake but not always. I replaced the front roters thinking they were warped but it still does it. My friend said it could be caused by the ABS braking system, could this be? If so anyway of disabling the ABS braking system? Thanks

if it previously had a d35 rear end it will have an ABS system, if it had a 8.25 it wont have it. I never looked into the axle swaps but if it has ABS and its acting funny, pull the ABS fuse (engine compartment?) I know when i was up at the dunes, everyone that had an ABS equipped vehicle pulled the fuse to stop bad things from happening

Pull the fuse in the main box under the hood on the passenger side. Under the box cover it will be labeled "ABS". Test it...

i just installed a 8.8 ford in my 1999 xj. changed out the internals of the xj proportional valve with the 1996 wj proportional valve internals that come stock with all 4 disc brakes. no issues and great stopping. I also complete pulled the abs system and went to the dealer and order all applicable brake lines in the engine compartment. lines are still available and dirt cheap. only issue is the driver front line is supposed to go into the back of the proportional valve where the blocking nut is but the nut that allows you to utilize the stock line is no longer available by dealer. just by new brake line from napa for that side and rent a bender and "Tee" into the passenger line coming into the proportional valve. i will be doing a install write up due to non-clarity of info on the websites.

By the way, use the 1999 mountaineer rear and all 4 rims from the mounrtaineer. perfect mounting and wheel well offset for a stocker. no adapters or any other crap.
