Question ABS Brakes

So my axle shaft U-joints have gone bad and i recently went to my local autozone to pick some new ones up and i guess there are ones for vehicles with and without ABS. I do not feel pulsing while braking, but there is an "ABS" symbol on my gauge cluster but it never lights up when i start my Jeep. as silly as this sounds I dont know if i do or dont have ABS brakes. Can anyone please help me out. Haha i feel like i should know this but i dont.

Thumbs up

if the light is staying on long then three seconds after starting the engine your ABS is not working. if you till me what you did when you replaced the u-joint i may be able to help you solve the issue.

the thing is i havent changed them yet because i dont know whether or not I have ABS. the reason for my post was to figure out how to tell if i have ABS in order for me to get the right U-joints.

look at the fuse block under your hood, if there isn't a fuse for ABS then you probably dont have it

you have a 98. it doesn't matter whether you have abs or not. your jeep uses the 5-297x u-joint which is the same one as the earlier jeep with abs.
only the 87 to 92 with vac. disconnect/231 t-case has the smaller 5-260x u-joint unless it has abs, then it will use the larger 297 joint. (and have the 242 t-case and non vac disco axle).

but for yours, no need to worry about that, you have the larger 297 joint. you can also use the stronger 5-760x joint in your axles too.
