Hello Everyone!
I'm writing about my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Last summer (in 2017) I totally my rebuilt the Air Conditioning System, replacing:
-Compressor
-Evaporator (Spectra Brand)
-Condensor
-Air Dryer
-Orifice Tube Line
-All hoses
-Heater Core (Spectra Brand)
-All rubber o-rings
-Added specified amound of PAG-100 oil
I vacuumed out the system, it held 30 inches of HG for a couple of hours and I recharged with the proper amount of R134a. It worked pretty well for awhile, but not it's sprung a leak! At the evaporator again! I've verified by introducing some refrigerant into the system to cycle the compressor, and used a Halogen Gas Sniffer to verify that I'm indeed leaking refrigerant out of the rubber evaporator drain tube as well as in the passenger foot well.
Looks like I'll be pulling the dash again! GOD DAMNIT! I used a Spectra brand evaporator, and I can't believe it failed in such a short amount of time. Anyone else have a similar experience with these Chinese made evaporator cores? Anyone have any photos or descriptions of how to set up a test rig to bench test my new evaporator with my vacuum pump prior to installing?
Thanks so much!
Brian
