Do me a favor and see if you can load that video to youtube or something. I can't open that video for some reason. I'd like to see it in real time before calling it a bad compressor.
Sorry to bring this back up, but after the readings do you still think compressor?

Cheers!

I think you are low of refrigerant due to a leak somewhere. You should use some dye to locate the leak, fix it, then vacuum and recharge the system. You might consider having your mate's mechanic do this. Depending on where it's leaking, you could have him identify the leak, then you fix it, and have him evacuate and recharge if that saves a few $$.

If your running pressure is 65/140 then yeah. But if the LOW pressure side is getting down to 10 psi before the compressor kicks off, it's low on refrigerant. But if you say it's turning off at 65 and on at 10, something is NOT right. I think you meant that it's OFF at 10 and ON at 65. If that's the case, it's simply low on refrigerant.

This thread has gotten so long and convoluted that I have long lost track of what's what.

It is cooling down here so will get some dye and a light over the next month and test for leaks. I did take off the high side cap on there was some bubbling, so will start there.

I think I read somewhere I can just try tighten that port as first option.

Cheers!

One thing I found out that when I redid mine 4 years ago or so if I cranked the valves all the way open on my AC hoses it would damage the schrader valve on my high pressure port causing it to leak. So after the second time of replacing it and only opening it just "enough" all was good.

Yep. That video tells it all. It's just low. Follow the previously posted pressure chart for the associated ambient temp and add some refrigerant.

Legend, thanks for your help.

I have added freon with no luck, so might get it vacuumed and refilled professionally.

Cheers!
