just my two cents. it's illegal to lift with block where i live. though seldom enforced (like windows tinted too dark) the authorities can impound your rig if it's not safe for highway use. i used the S-10 bastartd/V-8 GC springs. 3 and half over all with 265/16 tires

"Have you ever seen a leaf spring wrap into an "S" shape when you press on the accelerator? Blocks with old stock leaf springs simply is a problem waiting to happen. We don't give the worst case scenarios, we give advice to avoid what can be a potential problem in the future so they don't waste their money."
cant say i have ever seen a straight six wrap a leaf spring up, id love to see it i you could show me one.
"shackles are to *help* correct rear sag and pinion angle. AAL's are a band-aid. blocks are for rednecks, or for absolute POS trail beaters destined for the scrap yard after one more run."
id put my POS against your POS anytime

no offense, but a properly built rig is going to win. the only time I've seen a POS win against a properly built rig, the POS was treated like what it is...and it won the competition but didn't get back home in operating condition.
the goal is to make it there and back...not to make it there, have fun, and scratch your head on how you're gonna fix it to get back.
(btw, didn't see this response until just now)

Everything that i have ever seen is saying small blocks are fine, even though i have rana 5.5" block on the rear of an 84 k5 with a turboed 6.2 diesel and never had a problem, lots of trucks come from the factory with blocks, gm's, super dutys, all springs will sag sooner or later, gravity always wins,ut you get what you pay for, aal will beat you to death i've tryed them on 3 diffrent trucks(99 1500 chevy, 03 toy tacoma, 97 xj) and im never happy with them and i have removed them on all 3, i've found for a good cheep lift the best is a longer shackle, plus a shackle rolls the axle up to reduce drive line angle. this is all just IMO.

You should try one more AAL. The old man emu AAL. It's not even an AAL but it works the same way as an AAL, just not stiff like an AAL. It nets you an inch or two and increases your spring rate a little but doesn't roughen up the ride like an AAL. I ran TWO sets of old man emu AAL's in their own spring packs and it was pretty darn nice. Not stiff like that damn RC AAL i used first.

Do you mean the shorter style that sort of looks like an overload leaf? If so, those things are even more worthless than typical AAL's and work like crap if you have a weak spring pack.

Here's a pix of them.
This picture shows my leaf pack with two ome AAL's. The 2nd and 3rd from the top are the AAL's. They are all the same thickness.
