advice on hub assembly brands
Replacing a bad hub assembly. Any suggestions on which brand to get? Autozone carries a timken one but I dont know anything about them. Quadratec doesnt even list the brand on the hub assembly they carry. Just curious as to what brands have worked well for you guys. 01 xj

Timken used to be a great bearing. They are usually made in China now. They are supposed to be made to exacting specifications though. It is difficult to find any made here. What I do now is to find one with the longest warranty. I have found NAPA brand to be of reasonable quality. But they are outsourcing their products too.

I have used the Timken's and haven't had any problems yet. I still don't like the idea of not being able to adjust wheel bearings though. I hate the whole design, but it's not bad I guess.

Timken is still good. They DO make some of their bearings in China, but it's with imported steel, American engineering and duplicates exactly the stateside process.
They built the plants there primarily to supply bearings to China's enormous wind-energy industry. (they don't trust Chinese-made bearings either, lol)

I've got Timken's myself. Got them both online at partsgeek.com for $181.00 and that includes shipping and insurance.

I run TIMKEN's. Same deal as others, just replace them before 3 years is up. They had some quality issues for about 6 months, but got it sorted out and are back where they should be.
