What was the code being displayed on the code reader when the CEL was on? You may not have a DTC code that is directly related to the Airbag system, but the existing code problem could be affecting the Airbag system.

If you haven't had your dash apart I wouldn't chase a passenger Airbag.

Where is your Airbag Control Module located, under the driver's seat or under the floor console?

P0705 is Transmission Range Sensor (NSS) fault.

If the ABCM is located under the driver's seat it will look like this, except there will be carpet around it. If it's not there it will be located under the floor console.

Depends on where it is located.

Chrysler issued a TSB to relocate the ABCM to under the console because of the corrosive environment under the seat. If it is under your seat call your local Chrysler dealer and see if they can do the TSB relocation. Should be free and you may get a new ABCM out of it as well.

We'll have to wait to see where it is.

In the mean time you should see if you can locate a replacement control module. Ebay?

Get ahold of the person you bought this Cherokee from and ask him if he had the ABCM relocated to under the floor console at the dealer (TSB). If so, the ABCM may be under warranty, unless they just relocated your old ABCM. You need to make this determination.

Perhaps you should take it to a garage (dealer) that has a DRBIII diagnostic tool and have them check the system out and determine a fix.
