Airbag light on, horn not working cruise not working
#16
Thank you for the info. Just to clarify, in your instructions, you are talking about the 3 wires that are on the face of the clockspring? or the wires that are on the harness on the back of the clockspring?
As for the cruise control. I agree that i should disconnect the old after market wires. I was hoping that it would have been an easy fix by just hooking up the oem switches on the steering wheel. I will do that this week. I just hope that who ever installed the aftermarket cc, that they did not ruin the wire harness for the use of an OEM cruise with a clockspring with CC.
The horn. The button is in the airbag section? So if the button is no good, does that mean I have to get a new airbag section? Or can the airbag be separated from that section and the horn button worked on?
so much to learn....lol

Found the cheapest clockspring on rockauto. Goes for about $50. Not sure if that's the full clockspring though as the video they link is a bit scarce on that.

My horn doesn't work and my airbag light is on. I'm planning on doing this fix one day.

I mean the three wires on the face! In the photo you can see the airbag module and a red cable which is, if I remember right, for the horn. But do the horn test with the steering wheel off and holding the horn cable to ground.

Ok, we are getting there! Horn, it appears that it is in the relay or relay wiring. I say that because i changed out the relay and the horn worked.....well for a little bit. I then had to reset the relay and it works as of now. Any suggestions about chronic problems with the horn relay?
Cruise control. it is a scs frigette 4342. I want to get rid of it. I have installed the oem switches on the steering wheel. I am going to get the servo this week. But I am confused on the wiring of the scs. They have tapped into the brake wiring under the dash. I am thinking of just cutting the scs wire by the tap. Do you see any problem with doing that. I would put a little liquid tape over the cut. But the big problem I see is they ran a hot 12v to the fuse box. With that, when you get in the engine compartment by the scs servo, it looks like they may have tapped into the oem harness.
I am not sure about that yet as it looks like scs's harness connecting to the servo. I just can't find the oem cruise control harness. Were some 1999 xj's not supplied with an oem cruise harness? If not, any suggestions where it may be hiding?
thanks for the help.

Horn, CC not working. Clockspring replaced. ‘98 XJ
I’ve never been on a forum before. I’m having the same issue. I will check fuses. ☺️ Thanks!
Ok, I just put a new clock spring in. The airbag light is now out. However, the horn and cruise control still do not work. As in the post above. Horn works at the horn. The cruise control was after market. The old clock spring did not have the cruise control wire. I put a clock spring that has the wire, I also installed the switches on the steering wheel. I did not disconnect the after market cruise control wire that came from the switch handle that was mounted on the steering console side area. So where would you begin trouble shooting this? New engine installed, and I have not checked fuses yet but I will. thanks
