Default Airbag light on, no Cruise control, no horn. Please help!

Hello everybody,
Jeep Cherokee XJ Sport 4.0, AW4, Year Model 2000.

Thanks in advance for responding to this. My name is Faisal and i am a fairly new member of this community from the UAE.

A few days ago, i was driving home, with cruise control and suddenly my cruise got cancelled and AIRBAG light/icon on the dash starts illuminating. It would come in, go away and i could not use my cruise control for the rest of my drive.

So basically:
- No Cruise control
- Airbag light on
- No Horn (it was gone long before, not because of this recent problem)

Of course after experiencing this, i have looked through this forum and general google searches trying to figure out what's the matter. Every forum/thread is pointing towards Clock Spring in the behind the steering. Now, the problem is, almost ALL the XJs here in the UAE are US imports. So finding a part here is a total nightmare and specially when i would need a clocks spring with cruise control function. I can visit the junkyard but for sure they wouldn't know whether they have what i need specifically and tbh, i dont really want to install a junkyard part if i can resolve it otherwise.

While everything points to clock spring, I noticed something very weird. I am getting a strong click from the fuse box near passenger seat when i move my steering wheel. Sometimes it feels like bunch of clicks when i am actually driving.
Similar click when i press the horn button. (video
, please excuse my dogs panting in the background)

Could there be something i can check in the fuse box to fix this? Just trying to avoid part search as for the XJ and old jeeps in general, it is really a task. Though this Jeep is not my main daily driver, but it's my main car when i am going out for a shoot (work) and/or to take my dogs out.

Thank you.

Almost certainly some issue with Clock Spring

Double check it isnt wiring/fuse/lack of power.

Are you RHD or LHD

Check Rock Auto USA as that is the best source of parts and info

Double check Parts Manual to make sure LH/RH

I think they will be the same

If they are the same, just order a new or used one from USA

I am in Australia, and parts from Rock Auto hit my porch ~12 days after order, and almost always less than half the price of local new parts

btw, you will need security torx bits to get the steering assembly parts stripped down. They are torx bits with a dimple in them. There is no other way to undo those fasteners
