Are all AX15's created equal?
I purchased an AX15 off local jeep forum, seller said its from a YJ...
I decided to take a chance and assumed they're all the same. I mean it's internal slave like my XJ is... looked identical so I swap it in.
now I have problems.
The transfer case (231 out of a 2000 xj) the floor... also, the bracket for the t-case shifter didnt fit very well, as a matter of fact I had to modify the trans housing so the bracket could bolt to it.
t-case hitting/resting against the body
modified transmission to use XJ range selector bracket
my question: is a yj ax15 transmission the same as an xj ax15 transmission?
If they're not, whats different about them? Something is telling me the bolt holes for the t-case are clocked differently...
If they are can I swap out tail shaft housings?
I tried locating part numbers for the tail housing, but on quadratec they list all talk housings being the same...
Any help is appreciated...
