It all started with a wash......
So about a 3 months ago I decided to buy a1998 Cherokee sport! I was instantly in love I fit perfectly I love the boxy look of it my wife is pretty jealous(not kidding) so thinking I was doing the right thing I decided to detail it engine bay and all. Well now I have a cel throwing a code for the throttle position sensor and the thing is running like hell. It started as hard shifting and it wouldn't rev above 3000 Rpms it now stalls every time I hit the gas. I replaced the sensor and the connector but maybe I wired the connection wrong being that the wired are just straight orange or blue. It's a 4.0 straight 6.If you guys can help me out it would be great this is my daily driver and I can only use a work vehicle for about 2 weeks so I need it. Pictures and diagrams would be nice. I'm counting on you.!!!

Which TPS did you put in it? I think that's one of the parts that your Jeep prefers OEM. Or you've got water elsewhere too but it sounds like with the rough shifting/CEL that you've isolated your problem. Just have to get the right part. Our Jeeps are finicky with their preferences in electrical parts.

Likely had nothing to do with your rewire..........but why you did that is beyond me.

i would try OEM even though its like twice the Price. I had the same thing happen, mine went bad and I got just whatever was recommended at my local autoparts store and it still seems like when I had the OEM one in, it was running better.

No worries. I'm in same boat. 3 months ago I too bought me a XJ. And when your spending money every day it seems replacing little things here and there and some sensor goes out that cost almost 80 bucks for OEM you kind of just get tempted to go buy the 3rd party brand.
It gets better. The good thing is the Engine alone and my new Cylinder head are really pouring like a kitten now. Everything else I put in it now is just for FUN.

I put a durajunk in mine after I was wheelin a weeeeee bit too fast into a small creek and water went over the hood, frying the TPS. Just needed something for the moment. I've actually been running for over a year now lol. No problems hereeee. But normally I would have put something higher quality in for sure. I stay away from durajunk brand anything.
