im the only person i know of to have solved this problem....
ok what ur gonna have to do is pull the carpet up a little on the side to get up ALL the wate, cause i had the carpet to where it felt completely dry, but the insulation stuff was still soaked. Now once you get that done, check at your quarter panel, the antennae wire comes out of a whole about the size of a coca cola two liter bottle top and has a rubber plug that the wire goes through. That plug on mine had came out, but i don recommend just putting it back in. The problem with the wire is that it channels water directly into your passenger side floor, so what i would do if were you is to push the wire in some so that it has a loop hanging down so water doesnt just pour in, then take a flat piece of rubber and some silicone and seal it up.
then there may be one more problem, check the seal around the hood hinge, mine had a little water go in there when i tested it, but i did spray it directly in the hood seal thing. Also, a side note, you have to have to take the quarter panel and the step panels to get to the hole.
also, my door seals leak a little, but the only way that can be fixed is with some silicon or new door seals
hope that helps

I'm subscribed. I keep putting off fixing mine so I'm interested in any thoughts on this and I might tackle it tomorrow. I've heard you should check your windshield seal at the base, but I don't know why it would so frequently happen on just that side. Might have to have a friend pour a cup of water over several areas until you can trace it.

X2 on the antenna grommet; had the windshield seal replaced which did not fix it. After popping off the kick panel, I realized the antenna grommet popped out, I pushed it back in, coated with atv and hasn't leaked at all since.

My 96 leaked at the pass side bottom windshield every time it rained. Once I got a crack in it I decided to get it replaced, after the new windshield was installed it still leaked, the co that installed it made a comment that they sometimes had trouble getting them to seal in that location on Cherokee's. The second time they got it and it has not leaked since.

Looks like I found the source of my leaks today. First and worst was on the drivers side. When it rained water enters the cowl area and should drain out but it found it's way in through an unsealed body seam from the factory. I've attached pics but didn't think to snap any before I sealed and painted the area but you'll get the idea. The water leaked out of the cowl area and dripped onto the wiring junction block and leaked into the drivers side floor. Blue circled area shows where leak water came from and yellow show where it dripped to and proceeded into the inside of XJ. I pulled cowl panel and sealed area from the inside as well as the area you see painted black.
I have found a similar leak on the passenger side and will show it unrepaired but you'll see where the water is seeping. The passenger side area is just above the washer bottle and when water leaks in this area it is dripping onto and leaking around blower motor so still need to reseal this area but I've at least located my source. Tomorrow will seal seam and reseal blower motor as it need to be replaced anyway.
