I recently finished installing a 4x4 transmission and transfer case in my 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ. I still have yet to put in the front axle, I want to get the Jeep running before I install it.
I have filled both of them with Dex 3, and I have them properly wired up to the harness. I went to crank it, and it will crank and crank but will never start.
I realized that the small cable that runs to the shifter inside the cabin wasn't attached and wouldn't reach. So this is making me suspect that it may be due to a faulty neutral safety switch.
I know I can adjust the cable itself, and perhaps since it isn't starting the trans may not actually be in park or neutral.
The O2 sensor closest to the header isn't plugged in, the down pipe was trash and I am waiting for a new one and a new cat to come in. I do not know if this would cause it not to start, but I am leaning more towards the NSS.
But I do not know exactly what is going on
