If you have a 1999 or 2000 xj and are looking to upgrade from the 117 amp alternator to the 136 amp, here is the list of vehicles that came stock with the 136 and have the same mounting and connector.

2001 dodge dakota 2.5l

'99-2000 multiple dodge trucks/vans

'99-2000 dodge ram pickup 5.2l

Hope this helps some of you.

First one will not work (pulley too big, mounting points not exactly the same)
Third one will also not work (pulley too big, too many grooves)
Second one will work, and agrees with the list in the guide i posted

Thanks for the clarification Dukie. On the mounting points, I got nothing. Pulleys however, are easily swapped. So here's a followup question; Since belt tension is adjustable does a 2-4 mm difference in pulley diameter make a noticeable difference in output?

I've posted a list of donors up to 160A (OEM applications.)

If you get one with a seven-groove pully, you can use it - just put the belt toward the rear of the pully, leaving the front groove open.

Upsizing across the 120A level does typically require grinding away about 1/4" of the mounting area, but that's doable fairly easily.

A wiring upgrade is indicated - the larger-gage wire allows you to take full advantage of the larger alternator, and you'll need to upsize the fuse anyhow (which is why I offer ANL kits - for that very reason. Trying to find fusible link wire larger than 12AWG is a pain, and the OEM is 10AWG. I haven't been able to find even that in bulk in the last several years...)

Did the 120 AMP upgrade on my 98 little bit of grinding on the bracket and a tad on the block

Also due to the Bigger pulley on the new alt
I went uP a size in belts to 96 7/8. ( one inch bigger than stalk

The 120 Also has a extra notch so just tuck the belt closest to engine
