I agree with correct year case but 40.00 and a little work might get lucky this is where built not bought comes from . my 89 amc parts are interchangeable with a 93 231 so ya never know.

First paragraph got me digging in on mine im getting ready to do a ba 10 to ax 15 using a 94c231 case and shaft from my 89 231 in it...http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np231.htm

IMO, It's way easier to make something work that's available with less work.

lol Yeah right.
You haven't had time to figure out which way is up yet. Much less make the "6 hour drive" on your day off and bolt up a transfer case with the wrong spline count.
