Another high flow cat query
I have researched this and appear to get mixed messages.
I need to replace my Factory cats - hoping for more throttle response / consumption with a new Cat...but high flow or a normal one?
I do know the high flow ones have a larger diam to allow for the gases to pass quicker....but is it really going to make a difference over a new regular cat?
I know which ever one I get, it will make a difference from the one on mine now which has been there since 1999.
Some say yes it will, some say is all BS?
Im thinking just get a Walker or a Flowmaster hi flow cat?

Check out:
www.performance-curve.com
They have good prices on hi flow cat converters. That way you can get hi-flow and don't have to shell out a ton of cash.

For what it's worth, some of the hits I found for that P/N were on eBay at the dame price as US stores. May get a decent deal on shipping... hopefully not via Drop Bear Express

I read an article on high-flow cats, straight piping, and OEM cats on HOT ROD or something like that. They tested with a 145 hp L4 engine. IIRC, they gained 7 hp total going from OEM cat to straight pipe, and about 4 hp with a Magnaflow hi-flow cat. So, the upgraded kitties definitely help, but you may not notice the horsepower gain unless you open up the exhaust from the headers out.

The OP originally said "cats". I'm wondering if the NZ XJ's have the California style emissions with the small precats as well.
Clarify please OP?
