I searched some older threads but it seems like older ones don't illicit much in the way of responses so I'm starting a new one.

Since I have the left side of my engine compartment nice and open and I am replacing my trans mount I thought I'd preemptively replace my motor mounts. I am trying to stay OEM as much as is reasonable. Since I can't find OEM mounts, I opted for a pair of Anchor brand mounts. Man, are they disappointing. I don't see any way that I would try those.

So I'm back to trying to figure out which brand OEM style motor mount has any quality built into it. Is there any? Or should I just live with some extra vibration and expense and buy the Brown Dog rubber mounts?

I seem to be the only one who ever brings these up but they are seriously the best of all worlds. Stiffer than stock. Will last way longer and dont give you any weird vibes...

Do you remove the existing rubber part and replace it with these? Using the same steel surround?

Interesting, I haven't heard too many people complain about vibration or noise with Brown Dog's rubber mounts, just the poly mounts. I have Brown Dog's poly mounts and they seem to be holding up well. They have a minimal increase in noise when warm or hot outside, but... when cold, quite noisy!

Yep, pop the guts out of the mounts and put the new ones in. Super easy to do.

Last I heard the TJs mounts looked the same and Mopar ones were still available, but no confirmation if they actually are the same.
I've planned on using Brown Dog rubber mounts but if the TJs are the same I'll go that route.

I'll search more later but a quick look at Omix mounts and they were different part numbers.

Is your jeep lifted with a t-case drop? Brown dog rubbers not the best...if no tcase drop then brown dog rubber...excellent. Don't get poly...like bolting to a brick

I used the anchor brand from rock auto…certainly not the most robust but for a dd without serious off roading they’ve been great. Fixed the clink, no excessive vibes, dirt cheap. Simple enough job too so I don’t mind if they don’t last forever, but a year in they’re totally fine. Just my 2 cents

My flavor has been and still is Rusty's rubber mounts.

Guys, last night I stuck my new trans mount in (loosely) and went and really looked closely at my mounts. I can't see any cracks in the rubber, it's not dry and checked and even the steel is clean. I don't think I am going to change them. Looking at the Anchors I have a feeling those may be inferior to what I have.

When I removed the trans mount it didn't look bad. Just a bit "saggy". I put a new factory Mopar one in anyways.

Blue Jeep, it's not lifted by the way. Unless you count the Upcountry option as a lift.

Hey, nothing wrong with doing that. I would agree that aftermarket options tend to not hold up as well.

The trans mount is usually saturated in some type of fluid that helps shorten its life. The motor mounts are not subjected to all that stuff.

I dont think so, as far as the lift...its not the lift but the tcase drop that angles the engine brackets down from the parallel frame side bushings...the rubber or poly mounts dont take too well to that.

Hmm....I have read several reviews claiming a fair amount of vibration. I'm not interested in making my Jeep any more noisy or vibratory, lol.

I suppose if you are running a lift kit with bigger off-road style tires, it wouldn't really matter much, but I'm running in a stock configuration. I not even running all terrain tires currently though I am considering some KO2's.
