I'm thinking that theres more to be accomplished in the areas of general maintenance. Like filters and such.
The Seafoam has loosened a bunch of trash/water/scale in your system.
Time to get out the tools and dig in.

I had an issue with my 88 hesitating when I would hit the throttle. The faster I pushed the pedal, the worse it was. Turned out the EGR valve was sticking. Pretty easy to fix, and fairly inexpensive. I think the usual tune-up would be a good place to start, but if the problem persists, check the EGR valve. Go to Advance Auto and check it out. If it keeps doing it, put the old one back in and take the new one back. Advance doesn't always have the best parts, but the generally have the best customer service. In my book, if both parts function properly on the vehicle, and one has an ever so slight quality advantage, I'm going with the place that has the customer support. All parts can fail, so it's which store will be more helpful. My thoughts anyway.

Engine: puny lil 4 cyld... 2,5 litres, I-4, carburettor
I know I am a little late here, but Every other month I put a full can into the tank then fill up with premium grade gas. I know people argue quite a bit about the gas thing.
I have had no issues from adding the full can into the tank.
Then again I have an 85 with a carburetor.. So I am most likely no help

Is it getting fuel? You may have a bad crank position sensor. It controls spark to the engine. With one of my XJ's it ran very rough one day and then the next would not start at all. It was getting fuel and no spark. On another Xj it just went out. Seems like it could be your issue.

Check your distributor and any spark related components. Its not your coil.

Well Its FIXED! It had absolutely nothing to do with the seafoam. Its was my crank positioning sensor. The wires melted on the exhaust pipe and that was the only problem. Spliced new wires in and she fired right up. No rough idle or anything. So to the people of Seafoam I am sorry to jump to conclusions. But at least its fixed and thanks for all the replies. I am very glad to have good people in my corner when I have a problem.

Yes it does control spark. It obviously senses how fast the crankshaft is spinning and then tells the ECU to control the ignition timing. You are correct that it also plays a part in fuel mixture as well.

No it doesnt, CPS works in conjunction with the TPS to moderate air/fuel.

Correct and not correct. It plays a role in controlling the spark timing, it does not control the spark, along with many other components. It is mainly used to control the correct fuel/air in conjunction with the TPS/IAC.
