Anyone know the correct stereo head unit for a 2000 Limited XJ
Stock XJ Cherokee Tech. All XJ Non-modified/stock questions go hereXJ (84-01)
All OEM related XJ specific tech. Examples, no start, general maintenance or anything that's stock.
Might have found one for you at a decent price.
At least before shipping.
And that is assuming he will ship and it works.
Just so you know. The 3 little lights in the equalizer sliders have a tendency to not work most of the time.
Worse yet 1 or 2 out of the 3 being lit.
Would be kind of annoying if you ask me. LOL.
The Limited's standard radio was the A/M-F/M radio with a tape deck (sales code RAS). The optional unit was an A/M-F/M radio with a tape deck, CD player, joystick for the fader and balance controls, and a three-slider equalizer with amber lights on three sliders (Sales Code RAZ). If you have tweeter speakers i the upper corners of the front doors, then likely your Jeep originally had the latter radio. You can run your build sheet with Jeep to check, but both will work, and will look right at home in your XJ's dash.
hey thanks Vince. I’ll check for the tweeters after the kids open the presents and I make my traditional Xmas biscuits and gravy. I don’t remember seeing any though.

Most of my devices are pretty old.
In an effort to use some technology from this century (LOL) and still retain a factory look I did this.
This radio is most likely from a Grand Cherokee ZJ.
Bolts right in and hooks right up.
Thing about this radio is the round DIN connector in the back.
It was used to operate a CD changer from the radio.
You really can't see it but it is that black hole on the right.
I was able to score that radio and this iSimple device for $40.
This had that 30 pin connector that lets me play the music off my 160GB iPod through the factory system.
Like I said my technology is pretty old but it does what I want it to do and I get to retain a factory look of sorts.
Keeping in mind though that this radio would never have come in an XJ from the factory.
So it looks like I might have been wrong about that radio I put in my Jeep.
This is a page from a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Accessories From Mopar catalog.
Somebody I know just emailed this to me.
Can't be sure but that third radio down does sure look a lot like mine.
Even talks about the DIN connector to operate the CD Changer.
I just got an OEM replacement unit for mine. The "new" one has a braided ground in the back (cut) of which mine doesn't have. Anyone know where this is supposed to go or do I just need to find a suitable grounding spot?
Thanks,
