Wow. If it hasnt fallen off yet you may be able to clean those flakes up with a wire brush and some patience.

Otherwise you'll probably need to find mounts from a donor axle. If the rest of the axle is like that too maybe just find a new one.

That mount is welded to the front axle tube. The front axle is toast.

Start looking for a replacement front axle assembly at the bone yard. Make sure the axle assembly is exactly the same as yours (except the rust).

Yea, time for a new Dana 30.
That thing is a rust bucket. Not worth trying to fix.

maybe just that part of the axle is rusty? If the rest of it is in decent condition, you could clean it up and fab up a new shock mount and weld to it, and refinish it.

Yea, if he's a decent welder, he could just cut off the shock mount and weld in like 3/16th plate with a square hole in the middle for the shock

For some reason I'm thinking just ONE spot on that axle isn't bad.

Odds are the rest looks like that, or will very soon.

If he's a good welder maybe it'd be worth it. But that's alot of work when you should be able to get one for $100ish.

It doesn't have to be the same year, just make sure its geared the same. Most manuals were all the same, most autos were all the same. Pretty easy.

Here's a diagram of the assembly you're looking at...

http://www.wermopar.com/parts-catalo...ion-components

Should be able to look at that and figure out which part you need.

That's a 2WD front axle.

And no that IS the only spot that is that way. Other side is rusty but not even close.
