You'd have to remove the front driveshaft.

Yes, that's normal.

Default Plugging the weep hole in extension housing.

My 98 XJ with an AW4 and NP231 has been leaking out the weep hole in the extension housing. After three trips to the trans shop and rear trans seal replaced twice, they told me they plugged the weep hole and that it was an "accepted practice" This does not sit well with me.
Any input would be appreciated.

Default 99 Limited dying

My 99 limited won't accelerate. It will idle in neutral and rev, but once put in drive, it has no power and as soon as I let off the gas it dies. Thus far, I have replaced

Fuel Pump ( one unit with regulator and pump together)
Upstream O2 sensor
IAC
TPS
MAP Sensor
PCV valve
Rotor
Cap
Wires and Plugs
Crankshaft Position Sensor

I'm not terribly angry as most of this needed to be done anyway for the upcoming winter, but it still won't accelerate and keeps dying. It's got no exhaust leaks. I'm thinking I either need a new cat and downstream O2, or new injectors ( I think they are original at 227k miles). But, I have clearly been wrong about this issue a few times before so better odds are on me being wrong. What's my next step?

I recently converted my closed cooling system to an open system. I changed all the hoses and radiator and coolant reservoir.
I didn't change the thermostat housing.
I've seen some people do and some people don't.
Why would I have to change it?

Anyone know the height of the front unibody rails where they connect to the bumper? According to state laws, they have to be 24 inches from the ground or less...By my math, a 3-4" lift and 30" or 31" tires is pushing it...

There is no extension housing on a 1998 4WD. Nor have I heard of a "weep hole". Can you snap us a picture of this? Indeed there is no reason to plug anything.

So what are the codes the PCM is throwing? That's a pretty serious issue and substandard parts can cause problems.

Ever used an OBD-II scanner?

24" to the top or bottom of the bumper? 3" on 31s no problem if bottom.

I took it to Oriellys and they hooked it up to a scanner. No codes showing. I have never used an OBD-II scanner before.

Extension housing (I guess that's the term for the 2wd), transfer case adapter, the thing between the transmission and transfer case. From what I understand, there is a weep hole that is just above the transmission mount, in case the rear trans seal leaks or what have you.

Hello. Glad to have found this forum! Sorry to ask the same question as many but after searching to 3am, thought it might be easier just to ask. I have a 94 XJ with stock everything. Tired of looking like a soccer mom car so to start I bought a Teraflex 2" Budget Boost. I wont be doing any major off-roading but I do live in the mountains. Can I fit a pair of Cooper Discoverer 31x10.50 R15 on my original wheels and not have to do any trimming?

As OD stated no. 31's will rub. Max size with 2" budget boosts are 30x9.50 or 235/75R15s. The minimum lift most use for 31's is a 3" lift.

Did any older Cherokee come with a black/dark charcoal steering wheel? Such as late 80's early 90's. I'm looking for one with the horn cover for mine
