audio problems
I have a pioneer head unit, kicker speakers and sony subwoofer. everything was working fine until the driver side door speaker stopped working. i found out that it wasn't getting grounded so in order to fix it i just cut the wire and made my own ground to the bolt by the hood latch by the brake It worked great for a week or so and now all of a sudden at a certain volume when i turn it up louder usually 45 + out of 62 depending on the song all door speakers will shut of and only the sub will play. I turn the head unit off and back on and it works again until the volume is turned up and then the same thing happens? what could it be? I had this asme system for a while with no problems. Any thing i should check?

That is the internal amplifier of your head unit going into protection due to the speaker being grounded to the body. This is a big no-no, get the wiring between the cd player and the speaker fixed correctly and you'll be fine.

How did you find out it wasn't grounded? The speaker wire should go from the speaker through the door to a multi-wire connector behind the plastic kick panel by the hood latch and then to the headunit, then everything is grounded from the thick black wire coming out of the headunit. Definitely don't try and create your own ground. As stated above, that is likely the issue.

Simple solution to your problem...both my front speakers stopped working...couldn't find where in the wiring it failed, so I found the main wires on the back of the head unit...where the plug is, and spliced of of them and ran new wires to both front doors...2 writes on either side..now if they fail again it's a simple fix..plus better power transfer
