Default Automatic Lock Issue????

Stock 99 XJ. Was having trouble starting. Replaced Battery. New alternator. Have to keep jump starting it because it is dead every morning. Walked outside tonight and I could hear the automatic lock on the rear hatch engaging and disengaging. I believe this is what is making my battery go dead. Is there any way to make this stop or has anyone else encountered this issue? Thank you.

Disconnecting it may solve your immediate issue

You would need to remove the hatch cover and inspect the wiring, which is ratty looking and probably where the problem is

perform a parasitic drain test on the battery

Inspecting the wiring makes sense.
Thinking more where it comes out of the roof into the hatch though.
