Automatic Trans problems.....can someone help?
Basics are a 1997 XJ Country, with auto trans. Check engine light comes on , and we read a P700 code, dig deeper into code and we get a P1745 ,Shift solenoid A , 1-2 / 3-4 shorted High.
Now the question is, on the parts breakdown it shows NO.1, NO.2, NO.3, Solenoids, which one of these is the Solenoid A, that we need to replace ??
I would just change them all out, but they cost $200 each, too much just to be sure we get the right one changed.
Can anyone help with this problem ??
Thanks.......... Mouse

You can buy all 3 less than $150. I bought mine here. http://www.oemsolenoids.com/solenoid-set-a340-aw4-new/

Thank you for the reply, It seems that when the trans is cold everything shifts fine, after the trans get hot, then the shifting starts to screw up. Slow to shift out of first into second, and then doesn't shift into overdrive.
And I will check into the link about getting all 3, sounds like a very good price for all.

But you should probably plan on it taking a little longer than that. You have to drain and drop the pan (usually RTV'd and a #&$^*@ to get off), then disconnect and remove bad solenoid, install and reconnect new one, re-install pan, refill trans from dipstick tube. Test. Add more fluid. Test, again. Add more fluid. Test again. Realize you've added too much fluid. Drain fluid. Test again. Realize you've drained too much. Add fluid...

I did check the link you sent, and after calling them to make sure I was getting the right kit, was able to order all 3 solenoids the great price of $119 plus 2 day shipping for $139 bucks. What a deal as the dealer wanted $235 for each one !!
THANKS for the info...... and will let you all know how it goes next week.
and F1 ADDICT , You posted some great photos and stories. Being from the right coast, we don't have anywhere around here with that kind of landscape
