I could be wrong but I dont see how these would add life to old springs. I can see them keeping the springs from bottoming out while towing but I dont think they would put flex back into them.

same reason i didnt get a full lift, dont have alot of money. Plus i heard the JK shocks ride very nice, better than stock. Also i can get the JK shocks for near nothing if i can find someone selling their takeoffs when they lift it.

You do need to be aware aware that you are exceeding the towing capacity of your XJ. Please don't tow it anywhere near me especially on hills, don't want to be behind you cause you will be barely going and don't want to be in front of you cause the brakes are barely strong enough to stop the jeep much less it and another 6-7000 lbs. Even with trailer brakes I had problems with my old Chevy 1/2 ton towing my jeep.

I have a similar problem with saggy leafs, so that when I hit a bad bump with two friends in the back seat, the wheels grind on the flares. I have also seen the leaf spring helpers at Advance Auto, and am curious if they'd solve the sagging problem? As I recall they were only $25, which is a heck of a lot cheaper than new leaf springs. Would they help day to day, or only with trailer towing?

I currently haul around an enclosed work trailer thats GVW is 4000 lbs. and I do fill it. I've even towed a tandem axle dump trailer rated at 10, 000 lbs It was from Hertz Rentals. They helped me hook it up and said I was good to go. I hauled that thing almost all over Ontario for a week and never had a problem.
I'd sure like to see the setups you guys are using to tell everyone it's not safe to tow with a Cherokee.
On topic, like most have said, those "helpers" are for when the load exceeds the current leaves ability to carry the load. If you set them up too close to your main leaf then it will try to stop them from flexing whenever you hit the smallest bump or dip in the road causing the rough ride.

I'm doing the math here and if XJ weighs in at 3300 lbs and your trailer is about 17-1800 lbs and you have trailer brakes and load levelers and a sway bar, and good springs, your right on the money that the MANUFACTURER of the jeep says is a safe towing capacity. I've done the same thing numerous times when I owned 2 cherokees back in the 90s.
