Default aw4 outputseal leak, removal?

hi all

finding it kinda hard to find something on the AW4 output seal replacement. internet chock full of ax15 and awd crud, even very little photos of aw4 output.

anyhow is this seal easy to pull out once the TC is removed? ive got a small leak and need to get in there.

any advice much appreciated

IF it's a small leak, try some AT-205 before you start taking things apart. I have used it for power steering leaks (completely stopped it), a really bad front main seal (slowed a gusher down to a drip), my AW4 transmission (slowed it a lot) and a few other things. And a few times, it didn't seem to do anything. Results are mixed probably because of different seal materials reacting differently.

But for about 10 bucks, it's worth a try.

I have replaced the front AW4 seal on two transmissions. Pretty simple once you get the TC out of the way. Once I pulled the old seals, I saw there was no way any seal leak product could have foxed the problem. The seals were brittle and broken and leaked once the trans fluid started to rise. I bought a seal puller like one of these (https://www.harborfreight.com/seal-p...hoCNCIQAvD_BwE). The seal came out easily and went back in easily. On one, I dropped the transmission and replaced all the seals I could. On the other, Iw as replacing the engine and had pulled the engine and left the trans in place. Pulled the TC out and replaced the seal before I put the motor back in.

And by output seal, I assume you are meaning the pump seal at the front behind the torque converter. The output seal is the one at the back. The one at the front is commonly referred to as the pump seal and sits behind the torque converter.

No I mean the seal that's between the trans/tc. It's 100% the trans leaking. 240000 and time for a new one aint too bad lol.

so a pulled will be able to grab this one out?

thank you

Gotcha. My mistake. I thought TC was torque converter. Disregard my posts.

Has anyone else replaced the transfer Side trans outout seal?
Is this a simple to do job other than removing the transfer case?
