8.25 also is your jeep a 97 or newer

Yep the flatter bottom is the 8.25. 97 and newer is 29 spline and anything older is 27

Sorry to thread jack, I've looked at the different rear diff pictures but I can't seem to figure out which rear end I have... can someone help a noob out?

That right there is a Chrysler 8.25 my friend. How many spline it is depends on your year

its a 35 thread jacker. the 8.25 has the lip on the edge of the cover and a square bottom of the housing.
