OK so I went to the tech write up thread and compared it to my differentials and Mine don't match any of them.
What are they?

Just kidding, you've got an 89', so you have an old school Dana 35, with a solid plug vs a plastic one.

ok... your rear axle is a Dana 35 and your front is a Dana 30... as for the transfer case on the side facing your rear axle is a little tab that will tell you. Also if you search axle's on this site you will come up with the results like this....

does it have a full time option on the 4wd lever?

I looked at the tag and it's a 231.
The ratio is stamped 272. Is that good, better,, best?

there's some backlash in the drive train but so far I have'nt run it down. It's not bad but I'd like to deal with it before it gets bad. I know the ways to diagnose it just have to get to it.
