Default axle swap question.

quick question about axle swap. Would a 2.5 4 cyclinder 4.10 axle swap right onto my 87 4.0l XJ.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but im a new owner of an xj since April and im building it up.

I was thinking in swapping both axles out of a 4 banger xj.

If you do that you'll be fine, they'll already match.

You'll definitely want to keep the gear ratios the same in both the front and rear axle. Swapping in axles from a 4 banger is a cheap way to get lower gears. However, the rear axle is likely a D35 which is far from being a desirable axle to have. There are a few 8.25's out there too.
